Free Caregiver Support Groups and Educational Seminars
The Adult Day Services Center at WISE & Healthy Aging provides free emotional support, information, and referral to community resources for those caring for a family member. These support groups are open to the community. Enrollment requires initial phone consultation with our group facilitator. Center staff will provide care for your loved one at no cost during the time of the support group meeting (applies to daytime sessions only).

With the shortage of quality direct care workers, WISE & Healthy Aging is proud to collaborate with the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences: Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education in developing evidence-based courses for both informal (family) and formal (paid) caregivers.
Programs Available:
California Working Caregivers
Length: 5 hours
Fulfills the training requirement for the California Department of Social Services license.
ALL in-home caregivers employed by home care agencies MUST be licensed.
Learn the basics: role of the caregiver, how to prevent falls and fires, what to do in an emergency or disaster, and how to avoid infections.
Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Specialty Course
Length: 16 hours
Provides 16 hours of CEUs for Certified Nursing Assistants.
This course addresses the needs of anyone caring for a person with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia. Topics covered include the signs, symptoms and stages; communication; dealing with difficult behaviors; nutrition; caregiver stress; and more.

The "nuts and bolts' of caregiving, from the basics to more advanced skills! Useful for family members – essential for in-home paid caregivers.
