Michelle Parrella, LCSW

As Program Director of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) Program at WISE & Healthy Aging, Michelle Parrella and her team work as advocates by investigating complaints, reporting findings and helping achieve resolutions to meet the needs of disabled adults and senior residents in long-term care facilities. Ms. Parrella leads and coordinates regional certification trainings for Ombudsman representatives, coordinates field instruction and clinical supervision to graduate student interns assigned across the regional offices throughout the county, and develops and implements program policies, procedures and best practice protocols. She provides ongoing community education and awareness presentations on topics such as long-term care resident rights, elder and dependent adult abuse, and mandated reporting requirements.

Prior to joining WISE & Health Aging, Ms. Parrella was the manager of the Social Services division at L.A. Care Health Plan, focusing on the development and implementation of social services for managed care enrollees under Medicare and Medi-cal. She has an array of experience across multiple areas such as HIV & AIDS case management, mental health, and Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) for frail and elderly populations. Ms. Parrella holds a master’s degree in Social Work from California State University Long Beach and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California.
