Excursion Highlights:
Step back in time on a driving tour led by a step-on guide from the Pomona Historical Society. One of the oldest cities in Southern California, Pomona is celebrating 100 years of heritage preservation. A guided tour of the Phillips Mansion, an excellent example of a Second Empire-style historic house. Owned in the 1890’s by the “wealthiest man in L.A. County,” has recently been restored. Enjoy a docent-guided tour of the American Museum of Ceramic Art. While various styles and traditions of ceramic art are on view, a highlight is the Mettlach Collection (pottery founded in 1836). This collection is the largest of its kind in the world! Enjoy an included buffet lunch at the Cal Poly Pomona campus’ Kellogg West restaurant and visit the campus Farm Store to purchase fresh produce and local products. An included sweet treat from a local favorite pie shop tops off our day.

This festival is held at William S. Hart Park, home to the Spanish Colonial Revival Style Mansion of the famed silent film actor and director, who produced a series of hit Western movies in the early 1900’s. The Mansion also houses a museum – an impressive collection of Western artwork by noted artists Charles M. Russell, Frederic Remington, and Joe deYong, as well as mementos from early Hollywood. It is consistently one of the highest rated festivals in the U.S. Enjoy ample time at leisure to stroll the festival grounds in a joyous celebration of art, music and food, offered by nearly 200 artists and chefs. Admire the stunning paintings, sculptures, photography, glass, jewelry, ceramics, wood, fiber and mixed media from world-renowned artists.
