Position: Member Services Director

Program: WISE Connections

Location: Santa Monica

WISE & Healthy Aging is currently seeking candidates to fill the Member Services Director position in its Santa Monica administrative, main office. The Member Services Director will provide support to WISE Connections members in various communities within the greater Los Angeles region, beginning with Santa Monica, Mar Vista and Pacific Palisades. The Member Services Director will coordinate all member services, including recruiting new members, handling service requests, planning member events, monitoring satisfaction and retention, and managing membership databases. The Director will also lead the program’s marketing and outreach efforts as well as establish relationships with local businesses.

WISE Connections is a membership-based virtual community that supports aging in place for adults 50 and better in the greater Los Angeles area. The model is broadly based off of the “village” concept, which originated as a grassroots community effort in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood and has been replicated around the country with 106 communities actively engaged in developing “village” associations. Providing services in the home and promoting socialization within the community, WISE Connections serves as an alternative to assisted living or retirement communities. WISE Connections is a program of WISE & Healthy Aging.

A Bachelors degree is required. Masters degree preferred. A minimum of two years work experience in management in a fast-paced environment with prior experience working with older adults and volunteer groups. A minimum of two years experience in client services/sales and a minimum of two years work experience in social services, community outreach, customer service and/or member services organizations required. A minimum of two years experience in database management and data collection. Project management experience preferred. Demonstration of exemplary customer service.

Candidate must have strong computer proficiency in working with Microsoft Office software programs; i.e., MS Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and reliable transportation. Flexible and adaptable in work schedule. Successful clearance of a criminal background check.

Position: Ombudsman Care Manager (Part-Time, Temporary)

Program: Long-Term Care Ombudsman

Location: Canoga Park and Pasadena Regions

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is currently seeking a candidate to fill a part-time (24 hours per week) temporary Care Manager position at its Pasadena and Canoga Park regions. Positions are temporary positions that will end on or before June 30, 2011.

As Care Manager of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, the candidate will advocate for the highest possible quality of care and quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities throughout Los Angeles County. The program receives, investigates and resolves complaints made by or on behalf of the residents at nursing homes, assisted living and board and cares. Care Managers provide continuing community presence through visits to assigned long-term care facilities in the region. The ideal candidate will posses excellent organizational and communication skills and has the ability to interface well with all levels of staff and with the public.

BS Degree in gerontology, human services, social science or a related field and three years experience in gerontology, social work, long-term care advocacy or related areas required. Masters degree preferred. Bilingual in Spanish or other language preferred. Candidate must be computer literate and have reliable transportation.

Candidates who have worked in a facility licensed by Community Care Licensing during the previous 12 months cannot be considered. Upon hire, the successful candidate must obtain a background clearance.
